What the 50×60 Challenge Is

Group Running Outdoors

The 50×60 Challenge is a personal goal to complete one half marathon in each of the 50 U.S. states before turning 60 years old. On the surface, it’s a numeric challenge. In reality, it’s a framework for long-term discipline — one that requires planning, patience, adaptability, and respect for the process.

This is not about racing every weekend or chasing personal bests at any cost. It’s about showing up consistently, year after year, across changing environments and circumstances. Each state represents a unique set of conditions. Different climates. Different terrain. Different logistics. The challenge lies in adapting — not repeating the same race fifty times.
